call me naive, but …
I strongly believe in what I wrote here. I actually beat the Yakima Herald Republic, Spokesman and some other papers on writing it, but we saved it for later publishing. However, I believe tweaking the rules will happen again and again.
It was nice to write about something I’ve followed before two months ago. The issues in Snohomish County are entirely different from the readerships I’m used to. Boeing, tribal affairs and baby boomers’ economic woes are always on the table. We also do a lot of intense coverage of land use disputes, MUGAS (municipal urban growth areas) and the usual cops and courts. The beat system is especially strong here. As someone green in the ways of the world, I’ve never had a beat. So shoot me. But I have written a lot on public works and some enviro-commie stuff while here.
Today, I’m writing on domestic partnerships and the bureacratic sides of it are frustrating. Hurray for hammering it out.
