so so early
I actually beat everyone to the newsroom, even the people who make the coffee. We’re meeting with judicial candidates. Here are the last two editorials I’ve written.
Clearing the air must be firm’s top priority
Domestic partnerships move steadily forward
It’s kind of a small inconvenience not having a by-line, but my appreciation of editorial writing has really changed over the last 10 weeks. I still definitely prefer news, soft and hard, but editorials may always hold a spot in my heart, reminding me of hating the words “obviously” and “clearly” and trying to write about stuff for The Evergreen, such as basketball and police chief searches, that I felt uninformed enough to comment on. As an outsider to Snohomish County, it’s a strange experience to wield a hefty opinion on a daily basis. It will be nice to get my objectivity back in August. I have a bad habit of starting sentences with “It is.” - a journalistic no-no. Hurray! I definitely have the sleepy jollies.

I hate the Renton compost heap. I had a friend who used to live in apartments behind it and it sucked. THe apartment was nice but it had indoor everything because no one wanted to go outside. It’s so funny when you live in a place long enough you can give people directions “from the compost heap”
