Some kid mutton bustin’

I spent Sunday at the Colfax Jr. Rodeo. Now that high school rodeo season is over (except for nationals in Wyoming next month), it’s junior rodeo season, meaning 0-18yo can compete.

On Sunday, I watched Ty chutedog, steer wrestle and ride a bull, and Sophia, Abigail and Raven all rode barrels. I left before Ty team-roped and rode a second bull.

Since it’s junior rodeo, the little kids do mutton bustin’. I hadn’t seen this event since I went to a rodeo in Ardmore, Tenn., more than 10 years ago. Back then, the announcer told us the sheep were the most vicious sheep ever and very dangerous. My little self believed him wholeheartedly and was terrified for the mutton-busters.

This might be the most adorable rodeo event in the universe. Here’s some random kid during his turn.
