Seafood with faces
I had to run a work errand to south county last week.
Afterward, I stopped and grabbed lunch to-go at 99 Ranch Market, the Asian grocery emporium along Highway 99 in Edmonds. I’d never been before. It’s huge! I was in a rush and needed to get back to the newsroom, but I definitely want to come back some day and shop and explore.
My lunch from the buffet-style cafeteria was OK. Tasty, but I felt a little squeamish afterward about all the sodium and spidery squid tentacles I’d just consumed.
My favorite part was these little whole fried fishes, about the size of your pinky. I ate five of them. Quickly.
They’re kinda like the whole fried fish Lynsi and I had at BCD Tofu in the same strip mall in 2011. Those were bigger, though, and more bony. I need to go there again too.
This picture was taken on my center console. Because I’m a classy broad who eats whole fried fish in her car.
Can I blame being on deadline? Kinda, sorta? But it’s so cute!
